Planet’s Silent Plastic Epidemic

Plastic pollution is affecting life across the planet—it’s in our food, water, and even the air we breathe. And the reality is, we’ve brought this on ourselves through our reliance on single-use plastics and unchecked consumption.

Plastic Threat to Ecosystems

Our oceans are under growing pressure from plastic pollution. Every year, more than 8 million metric tons of plastic flow into the sea, disrupting fragile ecosystems. Marine life often mistakes it for food or gets entangled, while coral reefs struggle to survive. And when ocean ecosystems break down, their ability to support life and regulate our climate is also at risk.

Plastic pollution is no longer just an environmental crisis affecting oceans, marine life, and biodiversity; it’s ending up inside us too.

Did you know you might be eating a credit card’s worth of plastic every week? That’s right—according to the WWF, the average person ingests about 5 grams of plastic in that time. And if that’s not disturbing enough, then imagine what that does to us over a lifetime. 

Even though we don’t “feel” the plastic inside us, it may be silently undermining our health, altering hormones, damaging cells, and affecting organs. And because plastics accumulate over time, the long-term risks are still unfolding.
