A New Age Solution: The Innovative Founders Who Empower Clean India
Three founders. Seven years. Endless experiments. One big green mission.
In this episode, we meet the founders behind The Green Thumb India — an innovative trio converting urban kitchen waste into biomass briquettes through engineering, machine innovation, and circular thinking.
From discovering a common passion for sustainability to building a solution that tackles both waste management and clean energy, this conversation explores how their journey began, the challenges they faced, and the larger impact they hope to create for a greener future.
At Green Pistachio, we love spotlighting changemakers and impactful solutions that are helping build a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future while promoting eco-friendly brands and ideas.
That’s exactly why the team behind Green Thumb, led by Firdosh Roowalla, caught our attention. Backed by IIT Kanpur, they’ve developed a patented method to transform everyday kitchen waste into biomass briquettes — creating a cleaner, affordable energy source while addressing urban waste management.
From kitchen waste and garden waste management to upgrading existing systems, reviving non-functional plants, and setting up new waste recycling facilities, Green Thumb focuses on practical circular solutions tailored to different needs and budgets. With expertise in capacity planning, forced air composting systems, and solid waste management training programs, the startup currently manages waste for 25 housing societies and operates its own 2-ton-per-day waste processing plant.
